Swede Seeds

The Swedish turnip, to give the vegetable its full name. Swede is one of the hardiest root crops, and is the ‘neeps’ of Scotland’s ‘neeps and tatties’, the traditional accompaniment to haggis. The yellow flesh is mild, sweet and creamy – try it cooked and mashed with an equal quantity of carrot.

How to Sow and Grow Swede
The plants require little attention during the growing season, other than keeping weeds at bay and watering during dry spells to prevent them receiving a check to their development. They are cold tolerant and do best in an open position and on light, but fertile soils. Remember they are brassicas and should be rotated accordingly.
