Green Manure Seeds

Grown to benefit the soil, these can improve soil structure, increase soil fertility as well as help suppress weed growth, disrupt pests and disease life cycles. It’s highly recommended and worth growing on any part of the vegetable plot or allotment which will be fallow. Sown in summer they give the soil a healing rest, or a winter crop keeps nutrients, especially nitrogen from being leached from the soil. After a winter crop the soil has been broken down so is easier to use in the spring.

How to Sow and Grow Green Manure
Sow outdoors by thinly broadcasting the seed over finely prepared soil which has already been watered. Dig in when either the ground is required or any time before the green manure flowers and sets seed. If a longer period of ground cover is required, then flowering can be delayed by cutting plants back by a third when flowers begin to form.
