Element is a hardy, Japanese onion and a resilient variety for autumn planting. Get a head start with these muli-sown, module grown plants compared to autumn planting onion sets, needing less light that other plants these will grow through the short days of winter and early spring to provide the first onions of the year to make it fresh to the kitchen! A hybrid variety producing lots of large, crisp round onions with a lovely flavour. As their growing season is the opposite to many other crops, they don’t take up space in summer when you want to leave room for more tender veg, so they’re a great crop to give space over to in winter.

Our onion plants are module grown and raised under expert growing conditions in our nursery. They are QC checked and hand packed and wrapped prior to despatch. This variety is multi-sown into each module cell so you will receive several 'extra' plants. Some people prefer to plant the module (with several plants in each) as it is...the bulbs will grow smaller but they are just as tasty! Some gardeners prefer to tease apart and separate out to individual plants, carefully grow on and plant out individually getting larger onion bulbs at harvest time.

Our young vegetable plants make it easy to grow your own fresh, tasty (more...)
