The traditional ‘Christmas Rose’, clump forming evergreen mounds produce charming blooms when little else is in flower. They can also be cut for winter posies.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Sow: indoors September to November, thinly in pots or trays of seed compost lightly cover with compost. Keep moist and at approx. 15-20oC (60-68oF). If germination is slow, place in the fridge for 2-3 weeks and then return to the warmth. When large enough transplant to individual 7.5cm (3in) pots of compost. Gradually harden off before planting out to final position in late May spacing 30cm (12in) apart. Or, sow outdoors in a seed bed August to September, cover lightly with fine soil, thin as necessary. Transplant to flowering position in May, 30cm (12in) apart. Flowers: November to March, the following year.
