Planting & Harvesting

Sow & Grow

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Sow thinly, indoors, January-March, in pots or trays of compost. Just cover the seed with fine compost, keeping moist and warm at about 15-21°C (60-70°F). Germination may be slow. After 3-4 weeks, further germination may be encouraged by placing the pots or trays in a refrigerator for 2-4 weeks, before returning to gentle warmth. Thin (prick out) to other pots or trays when seedlings are large enough to handle. Gradually harden off in late May, before planting into flowering position, spacing 25cm (10”) apart. Or, sow outdoors, March-May, in a seed bed, pots or trays. Just cover the seed and keep moist. Thin (prick out) or pot on as necessary, giving each plant room to develop. Transplant to flowering position in late summer. Flowers: Summer.
