Sow & Grow
Sow indoors for surest results, January-May, 0.5cm (¼") deep, in trays of compost. Water well and enclose in a clear, plastic bag to retain humiditiy. Place on a kitchen windowsill. A temperature of 15-20°C (60-68°F) is ideal. Seedlings usually appear in 28-42 days. If not, place tray in the refrigerator for two weeks, then return to the warmth. Transplant seedlings individually to 7.5cm (3") pots when large enough to handle. Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts), before planting out into moist, fertile soil, May-August, 90cm (3') apart, when frosts are over. Flowers: August-October, the following year.
Hint's & Tips
Once established, mature plants can be trimmed back and divided, in early spring, to encourage new growth and increase your stock.
