Details
Very popular maincrop carrot producing long tapering roots with good flavour. Stands and keeps well.
Recommended by Kate Nicoll (Attingham Park head vegetable gardener) in BBC Gardeners World Magazine (January 2015 edition):
“A really good carrot to sow later in the season, when germination is much more reliable. It stands well in the ground and grows to a good size, but never gets woody or tough.”

Planting & Harvesting
Sow & Grow
Outdoors: sow thinly, March-July, where they are to crop, 1.5cm (½") deep, directly into finely-prepared, light, fertile soil, which has already been watered. Allow 30cm (1') between rows. Early sowings may benefit cloche protection. Seedlings usually appear in 14-21 days. Thin by harvesting young carrots evenly, allowing remainder to grow on. Water well until plants are established. Harvest: June-November. Roots can be lifted in autumn. Remove soil and store in dry sand.
