Broccoli (Sprouting) Summer Purple Seeds
Planting & Harvesting
Sow & Grow
Sow indoors, January-March, 0.5cm (¼") deep, in a tray of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of approx. 13°C (55°F) is ideal. Keep moist. Transplant 5cm (2") apart to other trays, when large enough to handle. Gradually accustom young plants to outside conditions (avoid frosts) before planting out, 60cm (2') apart during April-May, into well-cultivated, fertile soil. Allow 60cm (2') between rows. Water well. Harvest: June-October.
Hint's & Tips
Cut when shoots approx. 15cm (6") long. Harvest regularly to encourage further development. 1g of broccoli provides the daily requirement of vitamin C.
