An exceptionally stunning architectural plant, particularly when used as a specimen plant. The steely blue-grey, spiky leaves exude a sweet smelling sap, particularly if crushed. They are followed by long spikes of deep, brick-red flowers. Needs a warm, sunny position and winter protection in colder areas.
