Not quite a 'true garlic' but can be treated as such, hugh bulbs up to 6in/15cm across! The large and juicy cloves have a mild, sweet flavour and are lovely when roasted. Highly ornamental too with beautiful flower heads up to 5ft/1.5m tall.

Probably the best of all the red-skinned varieties - superb flavour and appearance both raw in salads and cooked. Shiny, dark crimson bulbs store exceptionally well from September through to April.
