The Victorians loved this short, spurless form of A. vulgaris. Our seed is collected from named varieties and selections with multiple tiers of petals which create pompon to petticoat effects in simple and bicolour shades.
Fascinating green or purple spathes are produced during spring and early summer. Usually found in woodlands, they are wonderful in shady areas of the garden.
Fans of sword-shaped leaves and slender stems bear a succession of yellow to orange-red flowers spotted deep red, followed by glossy black seeds. Lovely border subject.
A Tasmanian climber rarely seen here, yet hardy in winter to approx. -5 deg C (23 deg F), especially if given a protective mulch. Pendant, narrow, waxy creamy-white bells are followed by wonderful clusters of inedible, grape size, purple berries.
Pale yellow, bell-shaped flowers with a contrasting reddish base are produced in profusion on fast growing, climbing plants. Perfect for trellis or scrambling over fences and walls. Will flower in the first year from an early sowing.
