Allium sativum var. ophioscorodon
Autumn Planting-Hardneck Type
From the pretty Moravian town of Mikulov, the violet coloured bulbs are very large and juicy with a fine, spicy flavour. Strong in habit with large leaves, we’ve found this garlic keeps very well.
Our Heritage Garlic
Many hundreds of years old and originating largely from Bohemia, Moravia and the Ukraine, both of these varieties have performed really well in our trials and appear to thrive in the UK. They are hardneck types and classified as Porcelain varieties, so called due to the colour of their skins, and have a fiery taste with some real garlic heat! Quite unique and well worth trying.
Autumn and Spring Planting Garlic
All of our garlic is grown on the Isle of Wight and where possible, is farmed in the traditional way. Easy to grow and care for, it can even be grown in pots on the patio! All of our varieties are suitable for autumn and spring planting and are derived from virus free stock.
