An impressive talking point
A native of the Canary Islands, although does well in cooler climates given some protection. It produces fast growing tapering stems up to 144in/400cm tall, which are thickly cloaked in green leaves and are smothered with loads of small blue flowers.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Sow indoors, February-May, in pots or seed trays in a greenhouse or cold frame. Cover the seeds only lightly and maintain temperature at about 20?C (68?F). Germination may be slow and irregular. Prick out the seedlings as necessary and grow on, in 7.5cm (3”) pots, in light, sandy compost. Plant out in September to final position, to flower the following year. Flowers: Late May to July. May need winter protection in colder districts.
