Sowing/Planting and Flowering/Harvesting Guide

JAN FEB MAR APR MAY JUN JUL AUG SEP OCT NOV DEC

Key       Sow Indoors       Sow/Plant Outside       Flowers/Harvest

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Sow indoors, March-May, 0.5cm (¼") deep, in trays or pots of moist seed compost and maintain a temperature of 20°C (68°F). Germination is erratic and, for best results, temperature should be lowered to 5°C (40°F) after three weeks, by placing in a polythene bag at the bottom of a refrigerator. Leave for 2-3 weeks, then return to 20°C (68°F) when germination will occur over the following 2-4 weeks. Prick out to 7.5cm (3”) pots as seedlings develop and grow on in a cold frame or sheltered spot. Transplant to growing position during the following spring. Flowers: August-September.
